As Featured on ArticleCity.comRock and roll hall of fame has always been one of the most talked about, honorary and controversial rock n roll element. It takes an artist 25 years from their first album to be inducted into rock and roll hall of fame. The best thing about Rock and roll is it doesn’t only induct the artist but also the people who have helped them gain the fame by working behind them including producers, engineers, songwriters, media persons and record executives. Likewise it also honor those musicians who have served music industry with their music staying out of the spotlight like backup musicians, session musician and concerts backup musicians. The first rock and roll induction ceremony was held back in 1986 with the early pioneer of rock n roll being inducted like Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, The Everly brothers and “the king” Elvis Presley.

GUNS N ROSES
The year 2012, seems to be much more interesting in rock and roll hall of fame with the bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys and Guns N Roses headlining the ceremony. Many people are eager to see the induction ceremony of Guns N Roses. They have been inducted in their first year of eligibility. Many still question themselves, Will guns and roses reunite for one night in Cleveland? The open feud between Axl Rose and Slash is no secret to any music lovers. The band who started their career in 1987 with their biggest selling debut album “appetite for destruction” did not even last long up to mid 90s.Now Axl Rose is the only original member remain in the band. As a music lover myself, I can surely say Guns N Roses were the dynamic group of Slash , Axl Rose , Duff Mckagan, Steven Adler, Matt Sorum and Izzy  Stradlin. The new lineup didn’t even came close to the original members.GNR redefined hard rock and the so called rockstar persona. When the band started no one even would have thought that band will last for such a short time but in that short time band gave us some of the greatest music of lifetime .So, it will be so interesting to see will they reunite again or not?

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
Similarly, another rockers from LA, Red Hot Chili Peppers are joining the legendary rock and roll hall of fame group in April 14, 2012.They have to wait 2 more years to be inducted. They were first nominated on 2010. All of the original member of the band are set to be inducted i.e. Flea, Anthony kiedis, Hillel Slovak and Jack Iron. 29 years ago,4 regular friends performed a 3 min long song in front of 30 people  and from then the magic of the RHCP began to blossom. Even after facing lots of up and down in their career like death of Hillel, departure of Jack Iron, departure of John Frusciante, the chili peppers never back down and faced their problems to be stronger. Drugs, sex and rock n roll is what defines the chili peppers. Having sold more than 70 million albums worldwide, charting the record 12 no.1 song on alternative rock chart, they are still one of the most prominent figures in rock history. The feud between Anthony kiedis and John Frusciante is no more secret to hide due to which it is still unknown whether Frusciante will join the band in the ceremony or not. The new guitarist josh Klinghoffer have also been inducted in the early record breaking age of 32 hoping that he will continue his journey with the peppers in the future. The members who are being inducted are Anthony kiedis, Flea, Jack iron, Hillel Slovak, Cliff Martinez, John Frusciante, Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer.

BEASTIE BOYS
Beastie boys are the next group to be inducted. The hip hop trio consisting of Adam Horovitz, Mike Diamond and Adam Yanch are often cited as the pioneer of hip-hop. The trio has been one of the most influential group in the history of music. They have experimented with different sound and became critically and commercially successful. Their 1986 album “license to III” was the first hip hop album to be charted no.1 in billboard and the best selling hip hop album of the 80s.

ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME 2012 INDUCTEES
Thus, this year’s rock and roll hall of fame is going to be pretty much interesting. The main co-headliners of the ceremony Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns And Roses are on the eye of every person now. This ceremony can give answer to many upraised questions about current inner feelings of guns and roses members. It can be an emotional night to watch. Likewise other inductees are late singer/songwriter Laura Nyro, Donovan and influential British rock group The Small Faces/The Faces who also consist Rod Stewart and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.

EVOLUTION OF ROCK

As we all know, rock music is and always been one of the most popular and established genre in music culture. Now days when we watch music channels like VH1 and MTV, we can clearly see the change in style of rock n roll. What was rock music 50 years ago and what it is now is one interesting question everyone wants to know. So, I am just trying to put a light in some of the major elements that helped in the evolution of rock music.

ROCK LEGENDS FROM DIFFERENT ERA
Origin of rock music (40s and 50s)

As Featured on ArticleCity.com
Rock music was actually originated in late 40s when blues and country music where given new sound by the use of electric guitar and drum beats. But 50s is known as the decade where rock music gain attention. The fusion of blues, jazz and country with new sound of electric guitar became one of the fundamental music genre of that period. Talking of the early rock pioneers, we can name Elvis Presley on top along with other artists like Chuck Berry and Little Richard.

New age of rock (60s)

60s was the time when America was introduced to the British Invasion and soon British Invasion overcame the music culture of America with the band named as “The Beatles”. The reason for me for making Beatles one of the most talked, popular and influential band of all time is because they took the music that was created in late 40s and made it a whole different things with more melodic and psychedelic music and make that genre their own, thus giving birth to the new age of rock music. Following the path that Beatles polished and carved, many new bands and artists began to rule the world by their music. Bands like The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Cream, The grateful dead and Jimi Hendrix and experience. This is the period when hippy evolution was originated and soon became popular counterculture movement. Because of that, drugs and sex became one of the most prominent topic for the lyrics and necessity for the rock stars. Similarly, with many bands following rock music, new sub-genre of rock started to originate. Psychedelic rock and blues rock was popularized by Eric Clapton, The Doors  and Jeff Beck and Progressive rock was made popularized by Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and The Who, whereas folk rock was gaining fan following due to artists like bob Dylan and Janis Joplin. In the year 1969, First Woodstock festival was held in which many artists like Santana, Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, The Who, Sly and the family stone performed and was headlined by Jimi Hendrix.

Rock Evolution and Mainstream Success (70s and 80s)

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:
JOHN FRUSCIANTE(RHCP),TOM MORELLO(RATM,AUDIOSLAVE)
JIMMY PAGE(LED ZEPPELIN),SLASH(GNR,VELVET REVOLVER),JOE PERRY(AEROSMITH),
DEAN DE LEO(STONE TEMPLE PILOTS),ZACK WYLDE(OZZY OSBOURNE,BLACK LABEL SOCIETY)
BOTTOM(SITTING DOWN):
DARON MALAKIAN(SYSTEM OF A DOWN),JAMES"MUNKY"SHAFFER(KORN)
70s is probably known for the evolution of rock music with the bands like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin’s creation of separate tone that would later be iconic in its own way. They gave rock a heavier, thicker and darker tone which will eventually create the genre of hard rock and heavy metal. Also in 70s, New Wave Of British Heavy Metal evolution bring forward the bands like Iron Maiden, Diamondhead, Judas Priest and Motorhead who will later be prominent name in evolution of metal with the bands like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Pantera citing them as an influence. Likewise, Pink Floyd added more elements on their rock flavor and paved a road for the progressive rock movement with the album like ”Dark Side of the Moon”. In the 70s,world witnessed huge movement in rock n roll with the artists like Queen, ACDC, Yes, David Bowie, Eagles setting a new dimension in rock music.70’s rock n roll artists are known to be the most influential artists of all time. Aerosmith fused blues rock with hard rock thus giving a new sound to rock fans. But 70s revolution in rock is best known for the establishment of the new genre called PUNK. Teenage rage and anarchism led to the creation of music called Punk rock. Fathers of punk rock genres are undoubtedly The Ramones but later bands like Sex Pistols and The Clash helped to spread it and influenced many youngsters to follow the punk culture.

Likewise,  80s is best known for the establishment of metal and hard rock. Bands with tight leather pants, jackets, bikes, insane hair styles and faster guitar solos like Guns N Roses, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Poison, Whitesnake and Def Leppard were topping the chart and playing large Arenas. Similarly, in early 80s, fusion of funk, rap and heavy metal created the genre like funk rock or metal. Red Hot Chili Peppers can be named as early pioneer of funk metal. Alternative rock also came in attention with the bands like REM, Sonic Youth and later Nine Inch Nail and Jane’s addiction help to popularize the sound. Likewise, another biggest evolution was the evolution of thrash metal. Four big names in metal scenario Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and mighty Metallica revolutionized the genre that black Sabbath created decades ago. Thrash metal created their own style of music with bone crunching riffs, faster solos, and over the top attitude. The rivalry between glam metal and thrash metal was talked about topic in the 80s.

Evolution of Alternative and Grunge (90s)

NIRVANA AND PEARL JAM(PIONEER OF GRUNGE)
The era of 90s is the period for grunge and alternative revolution.1991 was the year when the album like Ten (Pearl Jam), Blood Sugar Sex Magik (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and biggest of them all Nevermind  by Nirvana was released. Pearl jam and nirvana created a new genre of grunge with their strong guitar tone with over distortions. Nevermind ultimately sold over 30 million copies worldwide and pearl jam debut album "TEN" received diamond certification by RIAA. Alice in chain, Soundgarden were among other artists who popularize this genre. Similarly, many bands from 80s bring a bit of change in their genre and experimented more diverse field of music. Metallica who were thrash metal band also reduce their sound and abandoned fast tempos and created the rhythmic soft rock ballads like ”Nothing Else Matters” but without letting their heavy flow die. Similarly the band like Red Hot Chili Peppers also experimented their genre of funk rock with more polished music  rather than extreme  ones and eventually became the alternative heroes with the albums like BSSM, One Hot Minute and Californication. Likewise, bands like Rage against the machine, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit and Korn again repopularized the genre of funk metal and rap rock. Similarly, punk rock gained mainstream attention with the bands like Green Day, SUM 41, Blink 182 followed the path created in 70s by The Ramones.

ROCK CONCERT AUDIENCE EVOLUTION
Present Time (2000 - till now)

As we can see people walking around with t-shirts of bands from 70s and 80s and their playlist full of the old school music, we can say rock music from the past decades still exists. Still old bands who helped to shape the music of rock n roll are active and getting more recognition with help of hall of fame and Grammies honoring bands that helped in the evolution of rock music. Heavy metal has now many sub genres like death metal, black metal, hardcore metal and nu metal and the bands like Children of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Cannibal Corpse, Slipknot, Norma jean popularizing the sub genres. Alternative rock is still active with the bands like Foo fighters, Coldplay, Incubus and Nickelback who are giving us good music keeping alternative rock alive. Likewise, pop rock has become very popular among the audience now a days with the artists like Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boys and many more on the list.
Thus, rock music has passed through many eras and decades to be as influential as it is now. Everyone who loves music can’t forget the gift and music of Beatles that they gave to us. Every single artists who is now in the eye of media, charts and awards are somehow influenced by the past bands and artists. Without the founding bands and artists of rock music, today’s artists like Katy Perry, Rihanna and kids like Justin Bieber wouldn’t have been in existence.

THE DECADE OF ROCK: 80’S IN MUSIC

As Featured on ArticleCity.com  80’s are known in music culture for having one of the most loudest, fastest, aggressive and influential music of all time. By the beginning of 1980, the hardcore rock music had already started to dominant the music industry. Synth pop, new wave and hair metal were some of the popular styles of 80's. Some bands from earlier era's of 60's and 70's find it hard transitioning into the 80's style of music. But in the contrary, 80’s has given some of the greatest bands, albums, and songs which later became biggest names in the music industry.

I LOVE 80s LOGO WHICH WAS
MOSTLY USED IN T-SHIRT
Going by the sales evaluation, 80s still will remain on top. The albums like Thriller(Michael Jackson),Back in Black(ACDC),Private Dancer(Tina Turner),Slippery When Wet(Bon Jovi),Appetite for destruction(Guns N Roses),The Joshua Tree(U2),Brothers In Arms(Dire Straits) and many more became the chart topper  selling millions of album worldwide. (Thriller) by Michael Jackson is still the biggest selling album of all time selling over 110 million copies worldwide and (Bad) in 1987 which sold 30 million copies worldwide is also one of the best selling album of all time. whereas ACDC’s (Back in Black) is in number two in the list of biggest selling album of all time with 49 million copies sold worldwide and both albums were released in early 80s i.e. 1982 and 1980.Likewise, the album by Madonna, (like a virgin) became one of the most popular album of 80s which sold over 22 million copies worldwide and Whitney Houston’s self title debut album which sold over 25 million copies worldwide make both females two of the most established, successful and influential female artist of all time. Similarly, Billy Joel 1985 compilation album (Greatest hits volume I and II) sold 23 million copies in US alone making him one of the best selling artists of 80s. Bruce Springsteen’s 1984 album (Born in the USA) and Phil Collin’s 1985 album (No Jacket Required) also became two of the best selling albums of all time i.e. selling 25 and 32 million copies worldwide respectively.

Likewise in the 80s, many bands revolutionized the hard rock genre in their own style. R&B and hip hop broke into mainstream with the group like Prince, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, LL cool J, Public enemy, Freddie Jackson became successful artists and their music become dominant cultural movement throughout the decade. Likewise alternative rock was popularized by the bands like REM, The Pixies, and Sonic Youth and also was dominating with different style of Alternative pop, Industrial rock, and Noise rock genre with new bands like Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction. Post punk band like U2 and new wave music with bands such as Dire straits and Duran Duran were also prominent music in 80s decade. But post punk act didn’t last long and were disbanded after mid 80s to add the element in creation of alternative rock. Similarly, one band of four college friend named Red Hot Chili Peppers didn’t achieve much commercial success till their third album in 1987,” The Uplift Mofo Party Plan”, but they did get noticed for the fusion of funk rock and the combination of rap rock and heavy metal guitar tone which later influence the band like Rage Against the Machine, Korn and Limp Bizkit.

BIG FOUR OF THRASH METAL
But what makes me feel good about 80s is the establishment of heavy metal and hard rock genre in the mainstream media and mostly  the formation of four of the biggest name in heavy metal genre i.e. Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and the mighty Metallica. Metallica was formed in 1981 and now is one of the biggest band of the world selling over 100 million album worldwide. At the time when hair metal and glam metal bands like Motley Crue, Skid Row, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake were tasting the commercial success and arena rocker status, Metallica were playing  Faster and louder riffs and still were getting more and more fans support without the radio airplay. Their 1985 album “master of puppets” is still considered as one of the most influential heavy metal album of all time. Likewise, the 1987 debut album “Appetite for Destruction” of LA rockers Guns N Roses changed the meaning of hard rock and sold over 28 million copies worldwide. Slash’s hard hitting riffs and Axl Rose powerful vocal make them one of the most prominent name in 80s music history. Similarly, hard rock acts of Aerosmith, Van Halen and Alice Cooper also gained success over the decade. Aerosmith and Alice cooper were among the bands from 70s that were still prominent in 80s era. Similarly, Queen’s performance in 1985 live act is still remembered as one of the most powerful and greatest performance moment in rock history.

80s Biggest Glam Metal Bands
But in the end, 80s music belongs to the hair and glam metal bands. Hair and glam metal begin in 1983 and peaked success in mid 80s and later took over the hard rock bands of 70s like Aerosmith, Kiss and Alice cooper. Bands such as Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Skid Row, Twisted Sister, Whitesnake, Def Leppard were some of the biggest name in 80s music scenario. Bon Jovi’s 1986 album “Slippery When Wet” established them as arena rockers and sold over 24 million copies worldwide. This genre gain popularity with the success of albums like “Pyromania” by Def Leppard in 1983 which received diamond certification in US alone and sold 20 million unit worldwide and Multi-platinum album of Motley Crue “shout at the devil” in 1983.Glam metal scene was more popularized in the mid 80s with the bands like Cinderella, Poison and Whitesnake with their multiplatinum albums like “Night Songs”, “Look what the cat dragged”, and “Whitesnake” respectively. By the end of the decade glam metal revolution was falling down and has started to be suppressed by the new genre of grunge and the bands like Pearl jam and Nirvana who were topping the chart. Skid row was among few of the last glam metal band of the 80s era and their album “Skid Row” was the one of the last few commercially successful glam metal album.

As a whole, 80s is the musical era or decade most of the people want to hear and feel again because of some of the greatest live acts and bands with loud, aggressive attitude, and over the top music.

when we go tense and well soon sad
when we fear when smthing go bad
when darkest clouds spins in our head
when we do smthing and later we regret

then,we cry with tears in our eyes
bt hide them frm others, cuz we feel pretty shy

then,

i ask myself
why dont we try
to think everythin is well
to face everythin life's wanna tell
tht everyone has their own sad story
its even true everyone do get worry
tht noone can smile forver
cuz time's alwayz not stable

SO,

now on when you roll your tear
or be sad and just have fear
then see ur life frm others eye
you'll smile  just give it a try
